Document Summary

Our body disassembles the molecules of macronutrients into molecular building blocks (digestion) Molecular building blocks: monosaccharides, amino acids, fatty acids and glycerol. The smaller molecules of which the macronutrients are made. For carbohydrates the building blocks are monosaccharides and for proteins amino acids and lipids fatty acids. It then uses molecular building blocks to: assemble them into body molecules. Builds bones and structure of the body: burn them to produce energy. Food is fuel for the body which allows us to think, be alert and for us to function. There are very few foods that are composed of one kind of macronutrients. The only ones that are composed of one are sugars and fats/oils. All the other foods are mixtures of micronutrients and phytochemicals as well. The food energy we do use are molecules that we use for energy or the fat that we have to burn because we do not have enough energy.
