A mathematical calculation based on height and weight: 35 and above is considered severely obese. Not considered as accurate or desirable as other measurements but for general population it is a reasonable standard. Weight in kg divided by your height in meters. Obesity is associated with increased body fat and is calculated using body mass (weight) and height. The result is referred to as bmi or body mass index. We do not put small children on a diet to reduce calories below their needs, we put them on a balanced diet at their caloric needs, no sudden weight loss, slow weight loss over a period of time. Children with obesity are under significant stress and anxiety with poor self esteem.
