Different alphabet had different codes which resulted to send a message using electrical mode. Sender of the message uses dots and dashes sent through wires then to electric receiver to decode the information providing your original message. If electric wires were set up, they were able to send message to one place to another. Before telegraph, messages were sent via post. Which could take a long time, days, weeks, or even months sent within a country itself.
