Knowledge is considered taking information and putting it into context. Cognitive heuristic is how people today verify the credibility of online information. Information is when we don"t know how to use the context. Repetition plays a big role from authorities. Difference between past and present, before ict"s there were a limited amount of sources. Gatekeepers: processed information in large parts, distinguished what is credible information and what upholds a particular standard as well. Difference between gatekeepers (past and present) versus now- in the online sphere, you are the gatekeepers of information, you get to decide if information is credible or not. The online world gives you lots of information from a number of sources. The problem of being your own gatekeeper- you are trying to assess information that comes from websites you don"t know anything about. There can be negative factors of figuring out if information is credible or reliable.
