Carr"s major ideas: increased dependent use of the internet today impacts how frequently we use it. Our general use of the internet comes at a negative cost; we are increasingly losing something (deep thinking and deep processing). The more we use the internet shows shallow thinking knows as neuro-plasticity). 2 groups of people were participants in an experiment. 1 group were experts using the internet (experience). The other group had little to no expert using the internet (non-experience). The experienced internet users had more active higher level pre-frontal cortex (problem solving and decision making), this part of the brain was lighting up. After a few days, the non-experienced participants experienced a remarkable change in the brain function- far more activity in the pre-frontal cortex.
