NATS 1745 Lecture Notes - Lunar Phase, Orbital Period
Document Summary
The period to reach the same position relative to the sun. Invisible part of moon is like looking at someone from the front and not being able to look at their back. The shape of the moon we see is just which part of the moon is lit, not its actual face or shape. In the waxing period, it is visible in the afternoon/evening. It gets fuller and rises later in the day as the cycle goes on. In the waning period, the moon is visible late night/morning. And gets less full and sets later each day.
