Meucci was never given the patent on the invention because he ended up sharing laboratory space with bell. Elijah gray is an american born inventor who has been considered the true inventor of the telephone. Vale(cid:374)ti(cid:374)e(cid:859)s day both had lawyers who went on the same day to patent the telephone and bells lawyers got ahead of the office before grays by a few hours.
