Cno (college of nurses of ontario): to protect the public, licensing body. Set standards of education and competent and ethical practice. Four key regulatory functions: articulating and promoting practice standards, establishing requirements for entry to practice, administering a quality assurance program, enforcing standards of practice and conduct. 3 components: self-assessment, practice reflection, learning plan, practice assessment, peer assessment. The purpose of the quality assurance (qa) program is to assure the public that nurses demonstrate their commitment to continuing competence and continuing quality improvement. The college does this by assessing the knowledge, skill and judgment of members.
