Document Summary

Anything can be considered rule of obligation if there is social pressure. Internal point of view- accepting the rules and uses them to conduct their conduct. External point of view- held by a person who is external to the group and does not account the groups rules. When looking from an external point of view you are able to see and maybe obey those rules. When youre watching people interact things that they do qualify as signals, that you should except of a possible reaction. Internal: - sign or signal is to do something, to act a certain way, because you know the rules and how to act. Austins theory is interal, people being motivated only by the signals that tell them what to do. Tensions are tension between the people who have internal point of view (signals to do things, guide their behaviour) and external point of view (things that signal others behaviour)
