Marx and engels critique of capitalism provided as basis for later socialist critiques of traditional ir theories. Marx and engels were also the 1st to see hoe capitalism is implicated in the development of a global system. Dependency theory and world systems analysis draw on socialist though in critiquing theories of modernization and development, especially in relation to developing counter and the exploitative structure of the international economic and political systems. Critical theory provides an intellectual and normative framework promoting a project of emancipation from social, political, and economic arrangements that benefit the few at the expense of many though hegemonic control in a system of coercion and consent. Ct emphasizes that all political economic and cultural orders are humanly constructed, bot dictated by nature. Once recognized, relations of dominations and subordination can be challenge at their foundations rather than simply taken for granted.
