*international law traditionally concerned itself with relations with sovereign states but nowadays it also deals with relations between natural and juridical persons: to have peace and stability, you need laws that everyone is following to some extent, because politics nowadays in modern times at least, in post 1945, era of globalization (three four decades ago) is not the realm of political activities. *international law has historically been about the process of regulating inter state relations: one of the main threats inter state relations (international relations) is protectionism, protectionism is against international relations, when you stop interacting, you emphasize more on your own unit, you become protective of yourself, as opposed to engaged in interactions, this becomes a main threat to international relations, without sovereign nations, we cant have international relations, but there is a contradiction between the notion of sovereign states and international relations.
