Document Summary

= how we get info into our brain, what happens when it"s in our brain, and how we get that info out of our brain. 2) storage = we retain the encoding info. Recognition = you see someone"s face; you recognize them, which triggers the memory of their name. Recall = given a name of a person without seeing their face (don"t have that trigger). When asked to remember a phone number, you do so until you don"t need to anymore. Short-term = working memory ! combines incoming sensory info + stored info from long term memory: long term = limitless/permanent storehouse of the memory (rehearsed memory over and over again to remember it) E. g. you"re given a new house address so you try to remember it always (permanently in your head) Retention = ability to keep info in our minds (storage and retrieval of information)
