About physiological processes that have to do in the body, sound, vision, touch . Based on activity of the sense receptors. Has to do with what"s happening with the receptors in my skin. E. g the sensation of your shoes is based on your perception of the pressure. Vision - very important in determining our experience. How physical energy is transformed into neural impulses. Has to do with energy from out there. E. g: light is electromagnetic radiation, form of electromagnetic energy, it travels over time. There are different lengths for the wavelengths and we are built to respond to a different range. Light = wavelengths ---- hit retina ---- transformed into sight by the brain. What you can recognize is identified by the brain, it is not decoded by the eye, From the outer world, to the senses to the brain. Psychology has a lot to do with top down processes - perception: perception.
