Document Summary

Subconscious- you can bring them to consciousness if you focus on it. Non-conscious- you cannot bring it to consciousness - i. e. blood pressure. Able to process information - very controlled. Controlled: you choose what you wish to focus on. Thinking happens in time. (attention can only be on one thing) Subconscious level - information that is processed subconsciously (you don"t need the information right now). I. e. cocktail phenomenon - subconscious automatic processing - group of friends that are talking beside another group of friends talking. Your name is mentioned in the group beside you and you pay attention because something meaningful is being said - subconscious to conscious. We process a lot of information subconsciously, simultaneously. Freud"s unconscious - repressed memories - come out in dreams, disguised manner. Children -> easier for them to repress emotions. They are not aware of blood pressure, but they can learn to lower it~. Receptors notice changes and sends the info to hypothalamus.
