Measures the degree to which 2 variables change together. Doesn"t randomly assign people to groups; it measures what is already occurring in the world. There is no attempt to manipulate and control variables. Rather, naturally occurring variations on both variables are measured to see if they are related. You do not go out seeking different groups. Effects of fatigue on a test grade. Not creating different levels of fatigue, just measuring them. On a scale of 1 to 10, rate how tired you are. Write a test, and then the person receives a test score. Scatterplot: what correlational data is graphed on. If two variables are strongly related (high correlation) then it is much easier to predict outcomes with that data. There is a mathematical formula that tells you exactly how two variables are related. For testing purposes, you must know the strength of a correlation coefficient.
