This system asks for information about patients on five axes, or dimensions. Dsm-iv: axis 1 clinical syndromes, axis 2 personality disorders or mental retardation, axis 3 general medical conditions, axis 4 psychosocial and environmental problems, axis 5 global assessment of functioning (gaf) scale. Epidemiology- the study of the distribution of mental or physical disorders in a population. Anxiety disorders are a class of disorders marked by feelings of excessive apprehension and anxiety.
