Consists of a set of written questions that are used to determine our beliefs, our attitudes, and behaviors. They feel like they have to answer in political or socially acceptable way. Need a very large sample -need hundreds of people. Not as easy to get the back from all of the people, need all of the answers. If you don"t get them all back then the group of people who answered are biased as there is something about them that they answered the questions while others didn"t. Maybe they have more motivation, they have nothing else to doetc. In order to generalize from the sample to the population, the sample must be representative of the population. Sample would be biased if you get a certain amount from a certain area. Each person in the population has an equal chance of being chosen for the sample. Eg. determining whats the expectation that the class has to get out of this course.
