Definition: unique constellation of consistent behavioural traits . Across time - this is something enduring: like a person being shy overtimes and situational. The core of personality is going to show continuity like someone overcoming shyness to make it work for you but still inside you have the personality traits you were born with. Someone who is shy with age learns to navigate social situations but still inside the core trait is consistent. Across situations you show the particular attribute in certain situations. It is not consistent and the same kind of pattern occurs and the issue is that people would change their behaviour based on the situation at that point it is not a trait. If you are more social you won"t call yourself shy but introverted just different. The issue around personality is that there were little consistency in people"s behaviour like friendliness but the behavior does not come out clearly in certain situations.
