Think of our species in relation with other species. Humans have a very long period of dependency. Children are dependent on caregivers for survival. Compared to chimps or gazelles, human children stay with the group for a very long period of time. A period of time in which children need to be socialized in order to survive later on. Psychology has divested a lot of interest in unpacking the learning process. Back in the day, this was one of the only courses: learning. Probably fair to say that all psychologists are concerned with the topic of learning. Even the clinical psychologist who hates testing learning, if you ask them how they approach the treatment of mental illness, they will tell you how having an experience in childhood can influence development later down the line. Fashionable to hate the objectifying of the person. Cognitive psychologists are interested in all the processes that are used to learn.
