Erikson: during adolescence, the biggest crisis to resolve is who am i? who do i want to be? . Identity crisis: resolving it is what enables you to move on, that should result in you able to successfully form relationships. Failure to attain an identity will result in struggling with intimacy in adulthood. Common for teenagers to try multiple identities. Does not follow a particular step order. Successfully overcoming this crisis is committing to an identity, which determines how you act in the world. Does little to find an identity, overwhelmed by the task. Person is examining different alternative but hasn"t yet found a satisfying one. Person has explored alternative and has chosen an identity. People can be in any of these stages at any given time in a number of domains: political, professional, spiritual. Being in the achievement stage results in conclusion of identity crisis. Have a self-centered view of the world.
