Roy sullivan- guinness world book of records with human being with most recorded lightening strikes (7 times) and survived. But killed him self due to heartbreak of romantic relationship. Married couples have lower heart disease than widowed, divorced and single people. We spend billions to attract others (cosmetics, diet industry etc) Propinquity: nearness or proximity ; we must first meet the person. Nearness in terms of place and time: signals availability, fosters familiarity familiarity. Similarity: similar/dissimilar--> works better long term if you are more similar with the person: attitude similarity effect: beliefs, letter effect, physical features. Attractiveness: facial/body--> similar levels of attractiveness are more successful. Facial features women prefer in men: large eyes, prominent cheek bones, larger smile , big chin. Facial features men prefer in women: large eyes, small nose, small chin, prominent cheek bones, narrow cheeks, high eye brows, large pupils, big smile. Best example of a prototype face in a given population.
