Schemas - schemas are mental structure"s that represent knowledge about a concept or type of simuli, they oten include atributes and the relaionship around those atributes. Role schemas: expectaions about people in paricular roles and social categories (e. g. the role of social psychologist, student, doctor, portuguese men) Self schemas: expectaions about the self that organize and guide the processing of self relevant informaion. What we associate with a certain type of person (e. g. introvert, warm person) Event schemas: expectaions about sequences of events in social situaions. What we associate with certain situaions (e. g. restaurant schemas) They reduce the amount of informaion to process. They guide our: atenion and encoding, what we noice, how we interpret what we noice.
