Most important traits: good inancial prospect, caring and responsible (female sociologists" view, ambiious/industriousness, good looks, physical atraciveness (male sociologists" view, personality. E. g. , mother/mother for happiness of a new born child. The child is guaranteed to be the mother"s child but is not always the child of the father. Gene pool of the mother"s side is guaranteed. Helping someone else without expecing graiicaion in return o o. Challenges sociobiology by saying that since it doesn"t reward us in anyway, it isn"t beneicial. Even when there"s no moive to help you and gain graiicaion, we sill feel beter about ourself. Natural selecion: environment chooses gene that ensures reproducive survivability. Gossip helps to airm or threaten ones personal prosocial reputaion, costly to maintain and spread. Belief in religion/god provides a bufer against freeloaders by constantly having someone watching us.
