Samples of behaviour are best predictors for future behaviours. Argued against the use of theory in psychology. Used idiographic method: created general laws by studying behaviour of individuals (not groups) the frequency of a behaviour. Extended the law of effect into the empirical law of effect: reinforcements increase. Consciousness isn(cid:495)t worth contemplating over; best to leave it for philosophers. All associations between events and ideas can be best understood via reflexes and their underlying neurological bases. Little albert (when rat was in play pen, metal bar resounded) Political biases towards political slogans can be classically conditioned (group with free lunch gate more favourable ratings) Operant conditioning (dependent variable: frequency of response) Put cats in puzzle box; after 20-30 trails most learned at least one of the ways for escaping. Learning as trial and error process; gradually become to likely to execute behaviour to bring about response. Experiment: one group was informed, the other was not.
