Observational learning is learning without direct instruction or training. Three stages of observational learning: exposure to modelling cues, acquisition and retention learning and remembering the cues, acceptance of cues as guides for behaviour. Acquisition: requires observer to pay attention and is demonstrated by verbal account or physical re-e(cid:374)a(cid:272)t(cid:373)e(cid:374)t of (cid:373)odel"s (cid:271)eha(cid:448)iou(cid:396). Acceptance: will observer actually re-enact (cid:373)odel"s (cid:271)eha(cid:448)iou(cid:396) spo(cid:374)ta(cid:374)eousl(cid:455), can take on 2 forms: imitation: behaving exactly like the model did. Can be indirect (cid:894)si(cid:373)ila(cid:396) (cid:271)eha(cid:448)io(cid:396) to the (cid:373)odel"s (cid:271)eha(cid:448)io(cid:396) (cid:271)ut does (cid:374)ot dupli(cid:272)ate it(cid:895: counter-imitation: behaving in a different (almost opposite) way.
