Rogers described the motive state as an attempt to grow and reach fulfillment, that is to become a fully functional individual. Maslow described the process as a movement toward self-fulfillment, an attempt to become all that one can possibly become. Deci and ryan"s self fulfillment theory: human psychological needs of autonomy, competency and relatedness. All of these theories takes the point of view that human behavior cannot be understood without some reference to this striving toward self actualization or full functioning.
