Therapists expect clients to gain awareness of the underlying issues and to make changes in their functioning. Long term therapy is only occasionally helpful in cases of unipolar depression. Limitations: depressed clients may be too passive and feel weary to join therapy discussions fully, they may become discouraged and end treatment too early when the long- therap(cid:455) does(cid:374)(cid:859)t p(cid:396)o(cid:448)ide (cid:395)ui(cid:272)k (cid:396)elief. Short-term approaches have performed better than traditional approaches.
