Research the systematic search for facts through the use of careful observations and investigations. Research is the key to accuracy in all fields of study important in abnormal psychology because a wrong belief can lead to great suffering. Schizophrenia severe disorder that causes people to lose contact with reality. Their thoughts, perceptions and emotions become distorted and disorganized, and their behaviour may be bizarre and withdrawn. First half of 20th century schizophrenia was attributed to poor parenting. Then created the lobotomy destroyed brain tissue left irreversible brain damage. Theories and treatments that seem effective in individual instances may prove disastrous to other people in different situations. Only by fully testing a theory or technique on representative groups of individuals can clinicians evaluate the accuracy, effectiveness and safety of their ideas and techniques. Clinical researchers face many difficulties in the past, they were limited by a lack of training and by less than useful techniques.
