Group dynamics: the influential action, processes and changes that occur within and between groups. Lewins field theory: behaviour is a function of the person and the environment (he did not want to describe groups but to study situations that bring about change) Examining group behaviour from different levels of analysis: Meso level: group level factors (size, structure and norms) Macro level: larger group qualities such as communities. Group fallacy: examining a group as a whole and limiting an individual level analysis (example: emotional contagion = having one person"s emotions and related behaviors directly trigger similar emotions and behaviors in other people. ) Internal consistency: how consistent each of the items in the instrument are related to each other. Item total correlations: the correlation of the item with the remainder of the items. Inter rater reliability: if two different raters scored the scale using scoring rules, they should attain the same result.
