Science is often portrayed as a search for truth about reality. We have our own individual truth of reality. From the greek; tautologos = repeating what has been said . Tauto = some + logos = speech/thought . Related: objectivism is also known as positivism, structuralism, and determinism, interpretivism is also known as subjectivism. That which cannot be measured does not exist . If people define their situations as real, then these situations are real in their consequences. Reality is a world of activity and meaning making. A pen is a pen: interpretavism- act towards the pen, meanings don"t reside in objects. The meaning of an object resides in the person. Reality is in the eye of the beholder . What seems normal or natural varies across situations. Ex: sleeping is a common activity, but the degree to which it is deemed normal or natural depends on the situation. What seems normal or natural varies across time.
