It is the breakdown and subdivision of types of work: destroys the craft the breakdown of tasks and the breakdown of work destroys craft because it disallows workers from having control over the knowledge of the entire working process. The theory si that once the control of labour is passed from workers to management it cheapens all the process of the labour process. Babbage principle: by dividing work into different elements each of which could be purchased according to the precise quantity of skill involved, costs are lowered, dividing the craft cheapens its individual parts.
