Document Summary

Capitalist societies cause change while traditional societies stay away from change. Capitalism is an economic and political system which is a country"s trade. Robert heilbroner says, country"s distribution and mobilization of work forces are controlled by individuals for profit. modernity is driven by our imagination whereas tradition is driven by the need to do the right thing for the people. Part of tradition is lost in this modern society as most of us do what we please and we do not pay too much attention to our tradition. Modern society emphasizes more on production rather than survival: differentiate between capital and wealth. Capital can sometimes be wealth and it changes from commodity into money and back to commodity. Capital is also wealth whose value is non existent physically. Whereas wealth is the symbol of power and authority. People who has wealth has the right to deny access to the means of production.
