Document Summary

According to milton friedman social responsibility is a corporation"s responsibility is to make as much money for the stockholders as possible. There is one and only one social responsibility of business, to use its resources and engage in activities designed to increase its profits so long as it stays within the rules of the game (friedman, 6) Friedman claims that corporates should only focus on making money and profit. Which can be seen as uncivil and cruel but if we dig deeper we can see why he believes corporations should only make money. By having one goal, which is making profits, we are already on a good route to a civilized society. When the economy is bad the whole society is affected and in debt. If corporations only focus on making money we can have a good economy and not focus on how the environment of the workplace is we can achieve a civilized society.
