You could marry a person of your own sex; unlike past generations, when you marry a man, you are not considered his property; Not marriage in the family are entirely equitable institutions. Marriage has changed dramatically over the 20th and 21st centuries: societal standards for a good mother versus a good father , mothering and fathering are equivalent terms, but what is associated with these words is very different.
