Suburbanization was a residential movement. with help of transport too! With sprawl, the industrial city expanded into rural countryside. After 2 wars & great depression(1929-39), labour & economy lost = houses were not built in number to meet demands of growing population after. Apartment complexes ok in city where space is tight but not common in other places. People would rent rooms in their homes w shared washroom&kitchen instead. After war, couples had children to start their great lives! After rst war and great depression, usa&can made federal programs for housing market.
