Rome was founded in 753 b. c by romulus and remus: brothers who were abandoned as babies & raised by wolves. They set to build it on the tiger river, but disputes over who would rule it ended in murder. Remus was killed by romulus, for whom rome is named. Civil war is one of the features of the grown of the roman state. Rome was one of the small kingdoms in italy. It was a safe haven for ambitious outcasts. This opened a free exchange of ideas, such as engineering. Rome expanded into regional power through by borrowing technology from neighbours. They were able to peak from their technological past & adapt to it & improve from it. The city"s first engineering achievement was the cloecha maxima. A sewer system that was built 2500 years ago & is still used today. Goes from the streets into the tiber river. They built the forum in the pipeline in rome"s downtown district.
