Introduction: before the arrival to europeans there were many indigenous people there, cities in mexico are old and date back many centuries, had their own system of. 300 000 people: many pre columbian cities in mexico are still in existence. Creation demanded a skilled army of thousands of people taking care. Colonization and cities: mexico like many developing countries was colonized by spain at one point which changed the trajectory of urbanization. Cities: development of colonial cities coincided almost exactly with pre-existing indigenous settlements. The central regions: played a historical significant role of the colonization of the spanish, concentrated in central part of mexico, mexico city became the capital of the spanish empire, played significant role of subsequent agglomerations of the spanish. Settlement patterns: large population agglomerations adopted what is known as a city state model of organization, large commercial and religious settlement dominated the rural communities another smaller political religious localities within the hinterland, were also dominated.
