Causes destruction of physical environment, economic system, people. Either reality or threat of physical violence or reality or threat of structural violence. Regulated: how substance can be used in society: regulated substance have more rules & control. Restricted use: like alcohol cannot be consumed by drivers- questioned by law. Criminalization: people can be charged for selling or use. Legalized: restricted laws on how it can be used, who can use it. Use and sales are allowed under law: restricted; medicalized (medical marijuana- must be approved) Othering: process of dehumanizing a group of people. View or treat (a person/group) as intrinsically different from & alien to oneself. Treat someone in less human way, less worthy of respect, dignity than they are. Can result in personal or structural discrimination or oppression.
