SOSC 2340 Lecture Notes - Lecture 9: Abita Brewing Company, Environmental Health, Toronto District School Board
Document Summary
Organic is a reaction to the widespread use of artificial chemicals. It is when products are grown, processed and distributed without the use of toxins. About sixty-six percent of citizens purchase organic products. Even though the market for organic is recognized to be growing, the number of consumers purchasing organic products on a regular basis is still low. Researchers show that a significant barrier to consumers purchasing more organic products is lack of information and awareness. Naturally, there are other barriers such as the price, store possible location and quality, but without attaining the knowledge of the benefits and risks of non-organic products, consumers will not purchase organic items. To achieve our twofold aim, we take several steps to send our message out. We try to keep our action plan as low-budget, so it would not depend on third-party or its funding. To develop our message, we must believe that consumers are the main actors who can enact change.
