3 distinct stages: cabinet stage, parliamentary stage, coming into force stage. Memorandum: in order to change the issues of concern. Parliamentary stage there is usually justification for why it needs to be fixed second reading: tested in regards to whether it is significant enough to warrant a change third reading: vote occurs. Passage and royal assent: if the bill originates in the house, it goes to the senate for approval if a bill originates in the senate, it is presented for a royal assent. While the law is hopefully a reflection of what all of the citizens want, it may not be due to power structures and power struggles. Conflict perspective creates restrictions to ensure that those who are in a lower section of the world stay there. Maintains unequal social and economic divisions this perspective does not favour the lower class.
