Kant"s philosophy of history: art is production through freedom, production based on a will that is grounded in reason, now we won"t think art requires reason, won"t say one thing is more beautiful than another. Imagine yourself in the other persons shoes: take other people"s judgements, the only way to do that is to have interaction with others, and requires others to perceive truly. It"s not the matter of being evil, but being foolish in your judgement. Could the russian"s move to a free society w/o involvement of capitalism: russia after 1917, stalin, russia 1930, the cattle the peasants owned were dying. Gov"t sends vets to cure them and yet the cattle still died. The peasants said the doctors were practicing witch craft: the peasants couldn"t comprehend the idea of modern medical technology. Kant understands human history as the development of human freedom : free individual is the reasonable individual, kant: freedom is reason.
