There is fear for people who have mental disabilities segregated them away. There is no question that there are some people for which we feel some pity for. We find people with disabilities disturbing hence their segregation. People who were considered retarted were put aside (put away) so that they"re hidden from society because people didn"t want to associate with them. Historically, we locked up people who were physically or mentally disabled: they were locked away, sterilized. Everything other that is not a man is not abled and needs to be looked after (example: for their own protection: being at the reference point gives you power, this is the way we see the world. Everything that a person with a disability accomplishes, it is seen as some sort of miracle because we lower our standards of their ability to do certain things. However these peoples" abilities are not bound but their disabilities.
