Law was meant to capture those who are profiting on human misery (smuggling) The court decided the case without referencing to the charter. They don"t want the allowance of hate speech to be allowed around them. All of the interveners are concerned about making sure that the rules about hate speech included in what whatcott does, they worry that people would engage in hate speech around them (and it would be allowed) Christian truth activists (whatcott"s group) - concerned with the teaching of gay and lesbian issues in schools. What"s get discussed in schools is a legitimate concern. Whatcott distributed four flyers in saskatchewan and regina which said to keep homosexuality and sodomites out of public schools. Issue: how far he went what he said within the flyers. Four people said this is discriminatory and that it hates on people because of their sexual orientation. People complained about these flyers and the tribunal made whatcott pay ,500 to the complainants.
