Document Summary

Racism is a societal paradigm that allows and reinforces racial inequalities; it is dangerous to society and has damaging effects on people no matter where it happens, or with whom it happens to. Racism is the unfair and unjust treatment that people (regardless of their age, gender, class, or race) experience from other members in society or society itself. Many people experience racism without knowing it and it is a pity that we live in a society that identifies people based on the color of their skin, their names, and social locations. Many black youth become targets in society simply because of their identity, they are perceived as dangerous, which results to the biased and discriminating treatment they get in society. These particular groups are regarded as high risk and are seen as invisible to some people in society because of their minority status.
