GOVT-105 FA2 Lecture Notes - Lecture 25: Egalitarianism
Document Summary
Slave morality: resentment, hatred of the evil other. Judaism - christianity - egalitarianism (all hatred of hierarchy) The slave is just as power hungry as the master but he denies it. The slave is pretend passive when they are actually just too weak: the lamb can"t fight a bird of prey, pretends that its weakness is virtue when its just an inherent characteristic. The chief problem is that it preaches against strength: telling us to be weak is preaching a sickness, preaches weakness as a reaction to resentment. Slave morality wants the superior to feel guilty for their superiority (make the strong weak) The whole pre-history of human kind people were developing regularity/learning to control their surroundings: needed in order to make promise, ******good conscience. We impose law as a way of domination and then create stories of why they do it. Marx hates hierarchy and nietzsche says it"s just life.
