Disturbance in mood that is serious enough to cause suffering and impair daily functioning. 5 + of the following sxs have been present during the same 2 week period and represent a change from previous functioning. At least one sx is either: depressed mood or, loss of interest or pleasure (anhedonia) Depressed mood most of the day nearly every day. Significant weight loss or weight gain or decrease or increased of appetite nearly everyday. Fatigue or loss of energy nearly every day. Feelings or worthlessness or excessive or inappropriate guilt. Diminished ability to think or concentrate or indecisiveness, nearly everyday. Recurrent thoughts of death, suicide ideation or a plan (15% eventually commit) The sxs don"t meet criteria for bipolor mixed episode. Sxs not due to substance use or medical condition. Sxs are not better accounted for by bereavement. 21+ hour tv per week added 13% risk.
