Two year olds want to be with their primary care giver (typically mom) Near birth: anxious attachment: inconsistent care provider. Story: mom comes home on a good day and is very loving & attentive to the child. The next day is a bad day and mom doesn"t want anything to do with the baby. Next time mom approaches, baby is anxious about what kind of mother she"s going to be (today) [genetic components of attachment: maximizing the likelihood that attachment will occur. Smiling (reflexive response), crying, sucking, following with eyes, & grasping: these interact with environment which hopefully lead to attachment, wwii: Pollyanna world: play the glad game / the glass is always half full. That would be wonderful because that daycare provider has all the caregiving attributes that we wish them to have: your child is capable of attaching to more than one person. You want the child to have good care be it at home or at daycare.
