Huike was a chinese monk who cut off his arm in order to be bodhidharma"s disciple. Reading, works, and rituals are not important since there is only an emphasis on meditation. Can be recognized because he holds a sword (or book) Shunyata: empty space (everything emerges from this space) Vajrayana buddhism ( diamond vehicle or lightning bolt ) Pre-buddhist tibetan religion was bon religion (shamanism) Entered tibet in 7th century ce but took root in 8th century. Mongols in 13th century ce chose tibetan buddhism. Animism=sees all elements of nature as being filled with spirits.
