ARCH 1420 Lecture Notes - Lecture 5: Color Grading, Tonality, Tracking Shot
Document Summary
Writing in movement relies heavily on photography ( writing in light ) Using a film camera to tell and show a story. Tonality: a consideration of how light registers on the film. Contrast: the comparative difference between a frame"s darkest and lightest areas. Extensive range of colors (or grays) in between pure blacks and pure whites. Narrow range of shades between whites and blacks. Exposure: regulates how much light passes through the camera lens. Filter (slice of glass or gelatin placed in front of a lens or printer) Reduces frequencies of light from reaching the film. Dark areas remain black and gray, light areas pick up the color of the dye. Toning: adding dye during development of the positive print. Alters dark areas, keeps the light areas white or only lightly colored (for exam doesn"t matter knowing when it happens, but know what the effects are and where it colors) This is mostly done in modern post now.
