Document Summary

Usually there is a lack of focus, make sure you have focus. You don"t have to talk about everything, find something different, unique, or unusual. Lead sets us up to the rest of the story but you can"t take too long because the readers will lose interest! Don"t be too newsy, this is sports, not breaking news. When you tell a feature story, you are helping them tell their story in a way. You aren"t just letting them tell the story either. Have enough to make the story interesting but not so many that you are an afterthought as a reporter. Good description, don"t describe everything in clumps, spread it out. Description also has to be in the right places. Make sure the nut graf doesn"t come too late- the meat! Paragraph that says this is what the story is about and this is why it"s important to know it. Watch the use of first person and second person.
